Simple Healthy Diet guide for business owners 2022

The modern era is a busy era.
With long working hours and a business to run, healthy eating often has to take a backseat in the busy business owner’s life.
However it is possible maintain healthy diet while still attempting to balance work and family life. Here are some tips on healthy eating for business owners:
1. Don’t skip breakfast:
It seems like such an easy thing to do when life is hectic but skipping breakfast can lead you to make poor food choices later or get too hungry and overeat at lunch making you feel sluggish and tired all day. A healthy breakfast should comprise of between 20% and 30% fat, 15% protein and 55% carbohydrates (minimum). The spread of macronutrients depends on personal and cultural preference.
For example: healthy breakfast ideas could be a bowl of oatmeal, an egg white omelet or whole wheat toast with peanut butter. It is also important to eat healthy breakfasts regularly if you want consistent energy levels throughout the day.
2. Don’t skip meals:
Another common mistake business owners make when trying to maintain healthy diet is skipping meals in order to save time. Skipping meals or not eating enough can lead you to feel hungry and weak which can result in poor food choices later on in the day i.e., choosing high sugar, high fat foods just because there is a lack of healthy options at that time of day. If healthy eating while being busy is the goal, healthy snacks should be kept handy for when hunger hits. Healthy snacks can include fruit (strawberries, apples, bananas), raw vegetables (carrots, celery) or healthy nuts (almonds).
3. Plan ahead:
It is much easier to maintain healthy diet when healthy food choices are readily available i.e. having healthy snack options in stock or knowing which days healthy lunch options are available at work. If healthy eating is a priority it should also be made a priority to plan ahead so snacking outside of scheduled healthy eating times does not have to occur as often.
4. Eat mindfully:
The business owner that gives into cravings too easily and makes fast food decisions based on location will have more trouble maintaining healthy diet. When healthy eating while being busy, a business owner should try to eat mindfully and evaluate how hungry they really are before reaching for the healthy or not so healthy snack sitting in front of them. It is important to remember healthy food can be found anywhere i.e., an apple is healthy no matter where you buy it from despite some places may be cheaper than others.
5. Keep healthy snacks on hand:
The final tip on healthy eating while being busy comes from experience- keep healthy options on hand at all times! Healthy snacks that are easy to carry around with you include apples, bananas, granola bars, carrots and celery sticks and hard boiled eggs which also make a great pre/post workout snack.
